Who We Are

The College of Wooster’s Ballroom Dance Club was founded in the Spring of 2016 by Amberleigh Ray and Dr. Niklas Manz.

We strive to introduce students to the art of  ballroom dance by creating a fun and friendly environment where students can learn and practice. We hold weekly lessons, practice sessions, workshops, and dance parties for both beginners and experienced dancers.

Lessons are taught by Dr. Manz and his wife, Yvonne Manz, who are both German National champions in international style ballroom. Students are taught Standard and Latin international dances in a relaxed environment, where they can learn to express themselves through dance, relieve stress, and learn a beautiful new skill.

Lessons are split into two nights. Tuesday night practices focus on social ballroom dance, a relaxed, friendly environment where students are taught the steps and techniques of ballroom dance, but with an emphasis on learning a new skill and having fun. Friday night practices focus on competitive ballroom dance, where the focal point is the technique of ballroom dance. Here, students will learn the finer points of ballroom dance, to prepare them for nearby collegiate competitions, at which students can either watch or compete.

We are scheduled to meet in the Andrew Aerobics Studio in the Scot Center (field level).

Students of ALL experience levels are welcome to attend.
