Competition Dance

All lessons for the Competition group are held Friday evenings in the aerobic studio in the field level (basement) of the Scot Center. Lessons start at 7:00 p.m. (beginner) and  8:00 p.m. (advanced). The finer details of technique and styling, as well as some more complicated figures of International style Latin (Samba, Cha Cha, Rumba, Paso Doble, and Jive) and Standard dances (Slow Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Slow Foxtrot, and Quickstep) are taught by our coaches Yvonne and Niklas Manz.

The competition-preparation lessons are open to all dancers who may be interested in attending a nearby collegiate competition with the club, or those who simply want to learn more.

We do not require any special dance clothes or footwear, though we do ask that students enter the areobics studio in clean, dry shoes. Many students practice barefoot, in sneakers, or in socks.

Upcoming competitions:

The club organizes several trips to nearby competitions per year. All students are welcome to watch, compete, or both!

Costs related to these trips will be partially covered by the club, and students may be expected to pay a small fee. Per-student costs depend on how many students plan to attend, how many rental cars are needed, etc.

TBD

Past competitions can be found here, alongside a list of who competed.
