Saturday, January 20 at 2 p.m.:

  • The Jane Austen/Regency Look – presentation by Susan Heady
  • Come see what period gowns, hair, and accessories a woman would have worn to a Ball in the Early 1800’s. Menswear will also be discussed and the correct behaviors of the time described. Learn also how to get the look without spending a fortune, for women and men. Free gift and handouts to attendees. Sign-up for the hands-on workshop the following Saturday to obtain assistance in creating your outfit for the Ball.
  • $5 adults, students free

Saturday, January 20 (5 p.m. – 7 p.m.):

  • Old English Dance workshop – instructed by Susan English
  • Workshop to learn basic steps and some of the dances – no partner or pre-knowledge necessary.
  • For CoW students, staff, and faculty, and the Madrigal Dancers of Wooster. Please bring clean shoes (aerobics room requirement!)
  • Location: Aerobics rooms in the Scot Center basement

Saturday, January 27 and February 3 (1 p.m. – 5 p.m.):

  • From Thrift Store to the Jane Austen Ball: creative workshops with Cherrill Wertz
  • Free assistance but you buy your materials or ready-made gown before workshop. Bring your sewing machine (some will be available) and dress to be altered and trimmed; or materials, pattern, and supplies to make a woman’s gown or man’s cravat/vest
  • $5 per workshop (students free); individual appointments also possible
